The first sales by the late Marcelle Jones and the current principal David Jones took place during 1984 and the company traded under the name of 53 7th Avenue from 1987 through to 1994 when the name was changed to Quantum Sun Leisure Options CC. During those early days both partners were situated in Johannesburg and sold the Umhlanga Sands, Beacon Island and Cabana Beach. In 1987, Marcelle and David moved to Beacon Island Resort for almost two years and introduced for the first time the concept of timeshare rentals which were used to enable prospective purchasers to enjoy “try and buys” at the Beacon Island Resort as a means of introducing them to what was then a relatively new concept – timeshare. The Jones’s returned briefly to Johannesburg for the launch of the Drakensburg Sun and then moved to the Cabana Beach in Umhlanga where they also introduced the rental “try and buy” concept and coupled this with “the plus bus” promotion which operated between Johannesburg and Umhlanga and enabled timeshare prospects to enjoy the timeshare concept over weekends on location.
These thirty years of background in the timeshare industry specifically with the Southern Sun/Tsogo Sun resorts have given Quantum Sun an unprecedented knowledge of the industry and the ability to give unbiased views on these top products that are available for rental and re-sale.
